Rosehip is the fruit of a Rose plant that grows naturally in North America. The fruit is recognized by many Native American cultures for its healing properties. It represents the journey of life as a symbol of transformation and restoration of vitality, through the fruits of one’s labor. This work displays an abstracted man dancing toward the viewer, in a scene that blends many non-objective and expressionist painting approaches. A bright lamp hangs overhead, emitting light over a convoluted background of intense rhythmic strokes. A table with a vase of flowers sits in the foreground, giving hope that better-suited flowers lie further in the future. A knot of matter hanging over a body of water represents the heart, and it is full in its singular complexity, and can only be complemented by another not completed. This work aims to capture the mental and physical process of healing a broken heart.
